I do not have an email address, which is needed to take the online Pre-Discharge Education course.
There are several free web-based email providers, such as Yahoo (www.yahoo.com) and Hotmail (www.hotmail.com). You will want to create an email address with one of those sites in order to register for the online Pre-Discharge Bankruptcy Education course. Make sure that you remember your email address (and your personal password) as you will be asked for it during the registration.
I don’t know my username and/or password.
You can have your password sent to the email address you used to create your account right away by clicking the “Forgot Password” link on the login page. Or you can telephone our office during normal business hours to request that your username and password be forwarded to you via email by providing your full name, social security number and email address.
I enter my username and password but the site will not recognize it.
Your username and password must be entered EXACTLY as it appears in your student account. Make sure you are entering the correct username and password.
What do I do if I cannot finish the course in one sitting?
The course is designed so you may exit it at any time and come back to the exact place you left off at a later time. In order to do that, follow these instructions:
- return to www.cccsmacon.org and go to the purple Bankruptcy tab. Click on “Pre-Discharge Education”
- Click on the yellow button that says “Return to complete a saved online Pre-Discharge Education course”
- Correctly enter the last four digits of your social security number, your mother’s maiden name and your last name
- Click on “Submit”
- You will be taken to another page that will ask you to enter your email address and your password (make sure to use the same email address/password as when you first registered)
I was issued a corporate voucher – now what do I do?
Go to our website at www.cccsmacon.org. Select the last tab, “bankruptcy.” Under that tab choose the last option, “Pre-Discharge Education.” Next, choose “Register for and begin our online pre-discharge course.” Proceed from that screen by completing all information on subsequent screens that is requested of you. Be careful to follow all prompts and directions carefully. On the registration screen you will be asked to provide personal and payment information. In order to ensure timely delivery of your certificate, fill out ALL personal information including name, email address, mailing address, county of residence, telephone number, social security number, driver’s license/state ID number, bankruptcy case number, and method of delivery choice.
On the billing Information section of the enrollment page, (a) select “Corporate Voucher” from the Account Type drop down list, (b) correctly and carefully enter the corporate voucher code in the Account Number field, (c) enter 01 as the expiration month; and (d) 2010 as the expiration year. You will choose the course labeled “PRE-DISCHARGE DEBTOR EDUCATION: ‘Live a Richer Life.’” Since you are using a voucher code, please pay careful attention to the online instructions appearing in capital letters. You must also enter the same voucher code number again on the Order Confirmation page in the box after the text: Do you have a discount code or voucher number? Once you re-enter the code in this box, click “Update Cart.”
You can confirm that the voucher code has applied full payment for the course to your account on the following screen by noting a zero balance. Click on the box to accept the terms and conditions and click “Sign Up Now.” You will then receive a pop up box directing you to click “OK” to process the order. Click on “OK.”
I clicked on the course window and it pops up, but nothing shows up.
The course requires that you have Flash Player. To download Flash Player go here: http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer. Follow the installation instructions. After the player is installed, try the course again.
I click on the course and get a message about “Adobe Flash Plug-in.”
You are receiving a message about the Adobe Flash Plug-in because you lack the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player. The course player makes use of Adobe Flash software. With an older version of the Flash Player, it cannot play the content in this course. Download the newest version of Adobe Flash Player as outlined in the previous item.
I click on the course and get a message about “Adobe Acrobat.”
You are most likely receiving the message about Adobe Acrobat because you don’t have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat. You can continue onto the course without updating Adobe Acrobat by clicking on the link that is below the message received when the course is opened. However, Adobe Acrobat may be needed to view/print documents within the course. Adobe Reader can be downloaded free of charge at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html. This program takes approximately 30-60 seconds to download. After installation, you will need to close all browsers and restart the computer.
I click on the course title on the My Classes page and either nothing happens or I get a message about “popup blockers.”
You are probably unable to open the course player in a new window because your browser is set to block popup windows. Follow the instructions below:
Close the course window.
Press and hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard while you click on the course title with your mouse. This will usually bypass the popup blocker.
If this does not work, disable the popup blocking software that is installed on your computer and then open the course again.
To make sure that your pop-up blocker is disabled:
For Internet Explorer:
- On your menu bar at the top of the page, click on “Tools” and then down to “Internet Options.”
- Click on the “Privacy” tab.
- Make sure the box next to “Turn On Pop-Up Blocker” (or, in older versions, “Block Popups”) is not checked. If it is, click in the box to uncheck it.
- Click “Apply” and then “OK”
- Try to start the course again.
For Firefox:
- On your menu bar at the top of the page, click on “Tools” and then down to “Options.”
- Click on the “Content Tab”
- Make sure the box next to “Block pop-up windows” is not checked. If it is, click in the box to uncheck it.
- Click “OK”
- Try to start the course again.
The course is frozen and I cannot move forward.
There are a number of reasons why the course may prevent you from moving forward to the next screen. The most common cause relates to outdated files in your web browser’s cache. Try the following, if you are using Internet Explorer:
- Open Internet Explorer and click on the “Tools” option in the menu bar at the top
- Click on “Internet Options”
- When the new box opens, click on “Delete Cookies”
- When that is finished, click on “Delete Files,” when that is finished, click “OK”
- Close Internet Explorer and reboot your system.
- Log back into the course with your username and password.
- Click on the course in progress. It should begin where you left off.
An exam question or a screen is frozen.
Press the F5 key to refresh the page. If this does not work, and you are using Internet Explorer, follow the instructions given in the previous answer.
I have completed the Pre-Discharge Education course online but have not yet received my certificate.
Certificates are issued the next business day. Depending on the method of delivery selected during your registration, it may take a couple of days before you receive the certificate. Make sure you choose the method of delivery that works best for you. If you opt to have us fax the certificate to your attorney, you must provide us with the pertinent fax number on the registration screen. You will likewise need to follow-up with your attorney to make sure the faxed certificate has arrived.
I have received my certificate in my email, but I cannot open it.
The certificate of completion that is attached to the email is in a PDF Format and you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to open the document. Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free program that you can download from here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
My spouse and I are taking the Pre-Discharge Education course but were given only one certificate.
A husband and wife must register for the course separately. Each person filing jointly on a bankruptcy must take the course separately and must, therefore, have his/her own certificate.
When registering to take the course separately, each person should be sure to use a different email address and password. If you use the same email address and password, the system will only recognize and confirm the first person who registered and took the course.
